Take the A592 signposted ULLSWATER

At the T Junction turn LEFT to POOLEY BRIDGE

Over the bridge, through village and bear RIGHT at the roundabout by church hall

200 yards a the crossroads turn RIGHT signposted HOWTOWN

This is a no through road on the south side of the lake - you cannot go right round the lake!

Take care - it is narrow and in some places only single track.

Pass Sharrow Bay Hotel on your right.

Carry on and pass Howtown Hotel on your left.

Over the cattle grid and not loosing heart, carry on up over the Hause (6 hairpins all lock to lock).

Catch your breath and glance back at the view from the top.

Carry on past the Church on your left.

Down hill and fork right down a very narrow steep hill

You will pass the side of COOGARTH on your left. Park outside, take in the view and have a stretch!

If you go over the bridge you have gone too far!
