This page gives an honest account of what you should expect from Coogarth which we hope you will find helpful when planning your holiday.

What you will have to take to Coogarth:

Food and drink
Towels
T-towels
Linen for beds (ie duvet covers, undersheets and pillow cases)
Blankets / duvet and linen for travel cot
Toilet paper
Washing powder and washing - up liquid

Don't forget your walking kit!

A torch would be a good idea (as it is very dark outside at night)

 

Facts:
  • Telephone: there is a telephone box only 100 yards away from Coogarth, but none within the house.
  • Mobile phones: As with all of the properties in the surrounding area, reception is not available, however, reception can be obtained at the top of the Hause.
  • Radio: there is no reception so none available!
  • Coal and Logs: these are available in Pooley Bridge or Penrith
  • Shops: the nearest shop for basic items is in Pooley Bridge. The nearest supermarket is in Penrith, just 20 minutes away.
  • Train station: the nearest is Penrith, on the west coast mainline from Euston.
  • Parking: available for two cars directly outside gate, with further space available near-by.
  • Postbox: within walking distance
  • Postman: visits daily
  • China and glass: these are stored in the kitchen cupboards. There is extra china in the dining room.
  • Cutlery: stored in the dining room sideboard drawers.
  • Dustmen: comes once a week (Friday 8am) and collects bags put out by the bridge. Please tie and seal bags well - they will leave replacement bags.
  • Maps: There are maps available for reference at Coogarth, however, you might want to purchase your own before going away. The map you will need for walking is: Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure 5 The English Lakes - North Eastern Area. 1:25 000
  • Guest log: you will find this in the sitting room. Please make any additions to this as it makes a interesting read.
  • Instruction books: If you have any queries as to the working of the appliances at Coogarth, these are in the desk drawer in the sitting room.
  • There is a list of useful telephone numbers included in the information file in the desk drawer in the sitting room.
  • Please keep the garden gates closed since the sheep will roam into the garden!
